Father, Daughter Cuffed to Basement Oil Tank During Long Island Home Invasion

No injuries were reported, but the suspects made off with jewelry and cash

A 53-year-old man and his 21-year-old daughter were handcuffed to an oil tank in their basement by two armed robbers who broke into their Long Island home around lunchtime Thursday, authorities say.

Police say the suspects rang the doorbell of the Valley Stream home shortly before 1 p.m. and when the homeowner answered it, they pushed their way inside and forced him and his daughter face down on the floor in the den.

One suspect who was wearing a mask and had a semi automatic handgun kept watch over the victims while the other suspect began to grab jewelry and cash from the home, among other items.

After the suspects had their loot, they forced the man and his daughter to the basement, where they handcuffed them to an oil tank. Then they ran off.

No injuries were reported.
