'Tis the season for some suburban New York City residents to be not so jolly because vandals are destroying the holiday decorations on their lawns.

Maria Corcione said the Christmas display outside her Baldwin Place home was targeted over the weekend. She says $500 worth of decorations including Frosty the Snowman, elves, reindeer and candy canes were destroyed.

Since around Veterans Day vandalism has been sweeping Corcione's neighborhood of about 200 households 50 miles north of midtown Manhattan. Property has been set on fire, and mailboxes have been smashed.

Corcione said she thinks local teenagers are the culprits.

State police said they're investigating.
