NJ Transit: Hoboken Waiting Room to Reopen Jan. 29

The waiting room has been closed since Dec. 19 when environmental consultants detected mold stemming from Sandy

Travelers in Hoboken will once again have a warm place to wait.

NJ Transit says it will reopen the Hoboken Terminal waiting room on Tuesday.

The waiting room has been closed since Dec. 19 when environmental consultants detected mold stemming from Sandy.

Flooding caused by the storm inundated the terminal with several feet of water and left behind several inches of mud and debris.

Benches and other wooden structures in the waiting room will remain covered in plastic until they can be cleaned and refinished.

NJ Transit says more work is still required in other parts of the terminal including the food court, public restrooms and storage areas, which need to be gutted and rebuilt.

About 60,000 people used Hoboken Terminal each weekday.
