Hit-Run Crash Leaves Man, 25, Dead in Queens Street Near His Home

Police are looking for a black four-door sedan a witness reported seeing fleeing the scene after the accident

Police are looking for a black four-door sedan seen leaving the scene of an accident that left a 25-year-old man dead in a Queens street just a few blocks from his home.

Authorities say Manuel Campoverde, of Queens, was walking in the eastbound lane of 34th Avenue in Jackson Heights when a car traveling east hit him and kept going.

A witness described the vehicle to police as a small, black four-door sedan with a male driver.

Campoverde was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities say he lived about five blocks from where he was hit.

Police ask anyone who may have seen the vehicle described by the witness or who has other information about the deadly hit-run to call authorities.
