Hiker Falls Into New York State Park Gorge, Gets Ticket for Straying

A 22-year-old Buffalo-area man escaped injury when he fell into a gorge at Letchworth State Park, but he was issued a ticket for straying from the trails.

New York State Park Police tell local media that Timothy Mazurczak of Cheektowaga was hiking in rugged terrain in Wyoming County late Sunday afternoon when he fell about 60 feet into a gorge.

Rescue crews rappelled into the gorge and brought him out. He was checked out by medics but had suffered no injuries.

Police issued him a ticket for not staying on designated trails.
