A 26-year-old history teacher has been accused of assaulting a student at the New Jersey high school where she works.

Kristin Leone was arrested Monday for allegedly engaging in inappropriate sexual relations with a 16-year-old student at Clifton High School.

Detectives began investigating Leone after receiving a tip from administrators at the school.

Police executed a search warrant and found evidence to support allegations Leone engaged in sexual conduct with the teenager at least twice, authorities say.

Leone was charged with sexual assault, endangering the welfare of a child, criminal sexual contact, official misconduct and luring and enticing. She was released on $100,000 bail.

Information about her attorney wasn't immediately available.

The investigation is ongoing.
