A teenager was hit by a train after he ran to catch it and slipped on the platform.

A teenager is in critical condition after he slipped and fell on a subway platform and was struck by a train Friday morning, police said.

According to NYC Transit spokesman Kevin Ortiz, the 18-year-old was rushing to catch a train at the Union Square subway station when he slipped and fell on the southbound express track.

The student was struck in the head by the train.

He was rushed to Bellevue Hospital, where he is in critical condition, according to police.

Adrian Rodriguez was going to cooking class at Marta Valle High School on the Lower East Side when he fell, according to the Daily News.

Students at the school told the Daily News that Rodriguez is a promising cook planning to apply for a scholarship to the Culinary Institute of America.

The rush hour incident led to a disruption in rush hour service, as express trains were forced to bypass the Union Square station.
