9 Arrested in Heroin, Cocaine Ring That Ran Through Craigslist

Nine people have been arrested on drug and other charges in connection with an investigation that began on Long Island and spanned across the country.

Nassau County District Attorney Kathleen Rice and other officials announced the arrests at a press conference Thursday. Rice says several million dollars' in heroin, as well as cocaine, ecstasy and anabolic steroids were sold via Craigslist.

Rice says investigators tracked the source of heroin and other drugs being sold by two men on Long Island to a drug operation centered in the Bronx. Further investigation found the narcotics had originated in Mexico and were transported to New York through California.

Charges against the defendants include conspiracy and sale of a controlled substance.

At least one defendant faces a sentence of up to 40 years of convicted.
