Part of Henry Hudson Parkway to Remain Closed into Weekend: DOT

The Henry Hudson Parkway is facing lane closures in the northbound direction each night into the weekend because crews need to complete emergency repairs on a retaining wall that may be in danger of collapse, officials say.

The stretch of highway near West 125th Street was first partially closed Tuesday evening as police and fire trucks responded to reports of a wall that appeared to be bulging and unstable.

The city's Office of Emergency Management says part of the stone facade needs to be removed from the retaining wall.

As the parks department works on the emergency facade repair, there will be lane closures in the northbound direction of the Henry Hudson Parkway from West 110th Street to West 127th Street at the following times:

  • 10 p.m. Wednesday, April 6 through 7 a.m. Thursday, April 7
  • 10 p.m. Thursday, April 7 through 7 a.m. Friday, April 8
  • 1 a.m. through 9 a.m. Saturday, April 9
  • 11 p.m. Saturday, April 9 through 9 a.m. Sunday, April 10

At least one lane will be open to traffic during these times, the DOT says.

The following detours are also in effect:

  • Closure of the 96th Street entrance ramp to the northbound Henry Hudson Parkway and detour of traffic along Riverside Drive  and West End Avenue
  • Use of the 125th Street exit ramp off the northbound Henry Hudson Parkway as detour for traffic

The DOT suggests Broadway and Riverside Drive as alternatives for northbound travel.
