Hedge Fund Founder's Son Indicted in Dad's Manhattan Bedroom Slay

A hedge fund founder's son has been indicted in connection with his father's shooting death on the Upper East Side.

Tommy Gilbert appeared in court briefly Friday to learn that he had been indicted, though the charges haven't been made public. They will be released at a Feb. 5 arraignment.

Authorities say he shot Thomas Gilbert Sr. on Sunday over a reduction in his monthly allowance.

Gilbert's attorney, Alex Spiro, says the circumstances were "tragic" but isn't commenting further.

Police said Gilbert Jr. went to his parents' home Sunday and asked his mother to leave. About 15 minutes later, she got a "bad feeling," went back to find her husband shot in the head, and her son gone, police say.

Gilbert Jr. was later arrested at his own apartment.
