3 More NYC Deaths Ruled Heat-Related

The New York City medical examiner says three more deaths are now officially blamed on last month's heat wave, bringing the total to seven.

The medical examiner says two of the people died on Aug. 1 in Brooklyn — a 72-year-old man, and a 77-year-old woman.

An 84-year-old Bronx woman died last Thursday

Their deaths were caused by hyperthermia, with underlying natural disease.

All of the other victims also were elderly, except for a 10-year-old Brooklyn girl.

Temperatures during the eight-day heat wave set records around the region. The first heat-related fatality in New York City was a 94-year-old woman.
