Heat Advisory, Scattered Storms Today

A heat advisory is in effect for the city this afternoon, when New Yorkers can expect it to feel like temps are in the high 90s.

Temps will be around 90 but the humidity is what will make it feel hotter.

Showers and gusty thunderstorms could pop up later this afternoon into the evening, first in our northwest suburbs then push toward the city and coast by late afternoon.

These storms will be scattered in nature and not everyone will see one.

It stays warm and muggy through Wednesday with scattered showers and thunderstorms from time to time and temperatures in the 80s.

By Thursday a cold front will have pushed through, ushering much less humid air and somewhat cooler temperatures -- a refreshing change for the end of the week.

The weekend could see some shower and thunderstorm activity return later Saturday night into Sunday.
