Hatzolah Worker Slashed in Brooklyn: NYPD

Police are searching for the man who allegedly attacked a Hatzolah worker from behind and slashed him in the back as he was walking in Brooklyn Tuesday evening, authorities say.

The Hatzolah worker was in the area of Eastern Parkway and Rogers Avenue in Crown Heights at about 8:15 p.m. when he was attacked, according to the FDNY and fellow Hatzolah volunteers. He had his radio on him and was able to call for help right away.

The victim was taken to Kings County Hospital and is listed in serious but stable conditon.

The suspect may have been wearing a mask and remains at large, police said. Investigators were on the scene Tuesday night conducting a grid search for the weapon.

The FDNY initially said two people were stabbed, but police later clarified to say it was one victim.

No arrest has been made. Police say they're not currently investigating it as a hate crime.

Hatzolah workers are volunteer emergency medical responders serving mostly Jewish communities. The victim wasn't responding to a call when he was stabbed.
