A teenage basketball star has been found fatally shot in the head inside her Manhattan apartment building.

Police responded to a 911 report of a shooting at 4:14 a.m. Sunday at the Grant Houses in Harlem.

They found 18-year-old Tayshana Murphy with a gunshot wound to the head. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Nicknamed "Chicken," Murphy was one of the top girls basketball players in New York City. She was a senior at Murry Bergtraum High School for Business Careers, and her family told the Daily News that several colleges were actively recruiting her.

Witnesses said Murphy was trying to outrun a gunman in a fourth floor hallway when she was shot.

There were no arrests and the investigation is ongoing.
