Gunman Shoots 2 NJ Brothers in Roadside Dispute

Paterson, N.J. police say two brothers were shot several times by an acquaintance they encountered while they were out driving early Sunday.

Officers responding to reports of shots fired found the victims in their car around 2:50 a.m.

Police Sgt. Patrick Murray says the brothers — identified only as 28- and 34-year-old Passaic residents — saw the acquaintance and stopped on the side of the road to speak with him. But a dispute soon developed and the man fired several shots as the brothers fled the scene.

The victims were taken to St. Joseph's Medical Center in Paterson. The younger man was in critical but stable condition with upper back and abdomen wounds, while his older brother was in stable condition with wounds to the right arm and lower abdomen.
