New York City Department of Transportation Warns of 9 Gridlock Alert Days

The department singled out nine "gridlock alert" days, when traffic is predicted to be particularly heavy

The New York City Department of Transportation released its plan to help improve travel on the heaviest traffic days during the holiday season, from Thanksgiving to Christmas.

The department singled out nine Gridlock Alert Days in November and December, and the public is urged to take mass transit on these days.

  • Friday, Nov. 20
  • Wednesday, Nov. 25
  • Wednesday, Dec. 2
  • Friday, Dec. 4
  • Friday, Dec. 11
  • Wednesday, Dec. 16
  • Thursday, Dec. 17
  • Friday, Dec. 18
  • Wednesday, Dec. 23

All routine repair work on the roads will be suspended those days, unless it is emergency work.
