Connecticut Mother Accused of Giving Teens Booze, Condoms: Report

A Connecticut mother is denying police allegations that she gave beer, liquor and condoms to teenagers at a house party in April.

Thirty-nine-year-old Eliane Mullen, of Greenwich, told the Connecticut Post Wednesday that she didn't know there was alcohol at the party at her former home in Easton. She also denied giving the teens condoms.

Mullen said her 15-year-old daughter invited two friends over for a sleepover, but the gathering got out of hand as a number of boys and girls showed up.

Police allege Mullen bought vodka, whiskey and beer for the party and encouraged teens to drink and have sex.

The parents of one of the teens who attended the party called police after their son had to be treated at a hospital after coming home drunk. Police told the newspaper that the boy said he drank at least half a bottle of vodka and two beers.

Mullen told the Post that she thought the children were drinking soda and noticed that the teens were drinking when it was brought to her attention that one of the teens was ill.

"The amount he drank at the party was not enough to make him that drunk," she contended. "And I know because I was a certified nurse's aide."

Mullen was charged with 10 counts of risk of injury to a minor. She's free on a promise to appear in Bridgeport Superior Court on Sept. 16.
