Grandmother Arrested for DWI with Children in Car

Police say 64-year-old Mary Kimbrough was pulled over after she was spotted driving down a road in Commack without a left front tire Friday night

A Long Island grandmother has been arrested for driving while intoxicated with children in the car.

Police say 64-year-old Mary Kimbrough was pulled over after she was spotted driving down a road in Commack without a left front tire Friday night. Police discovered two frightened children inside the car, ages 9 and 11.

Kimbrough had been driving for some time without the tire, police determined. She was arrested and charged with endangering the welfare of a child and aggravated DWI.

Police said Kimbrough was the grandmother of one of the children.

This is not Kimbrough's first run in with police. She was convicted in 2009 for DWI.
