A 15-year-old girl has died after being struck by a van in Brooklyn, authorities say.

The girl was struck by the white van just before 3 p.m. at East 7th Street and Avenue O in the Gravesend section of Brooklyn, police said. She was found unconscious and unresponsive at the scene, and was taken to Maimonides Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Police said it appears the 2006 Ford Econoline was going eastbound on Avenue O when it struck the girl, who was crossing from the north to south side of the street. The van stayed on the scene, and no criminality is suspected.

The girl has been identified as Sara Kishik of Brooklyn. Police are continuing to investigate.
