Girl, 2, Found Safe After Car Stolen From Outside Bodega: Police

A 2-year-old girl stolen along with the car she was sitting in early Sunday as it idled outside a Queens bodega that her mother stopped at to buy diapers was found safe in the vehicle two hours later, authorities say.

The car was found 10 blocks from the Corona bodega where mother Karina Rojas stopped. The thief remains at large.

"I was just going to get diapers, like one minute, and then when I go out, I don't find my car and my baby," Rojas said after her daughter, Gabriella, was found.

Gabriella was asleep in the car when she was found by police, who had to break a window to get her out. She was not hurt.

Rojas said she will never leave her daughter unattended again and that having her returned was "the most special moment in life, like the first time I saw her."
