Girl, 17, Accused of Punching Substitute Teacher

A 17-year-old girl at a suburban New York City high school is accused of throwing her cell phone at a substitute teacher and punching her in the head.

Yonkers police say the incident occurred Thursday after the teacher instructed the girl to return to her class because she did not have a hall pass.

The girl was arrested on a felony charge of assault. The teacher was treated at a hospital and released.

The school said the student was suspended for five days. A superintendent's hearing will determine whether further disciplinary action should be taken.
