State police say a fiery early morning crash on the Garden State Parkway in New Jersey has claimed the lives of two people and injured two others.

NJ.com reports that the crash occurred shortly after 3 a.m. Sunday in Galloway Township near southbound milepost 42.1 on the parkway.

Trooper Alejandro Goez says a car veered off the roadway and hit several trees before catching fire.

He says the driver and a 20-year-old male passenger were killed. Two back seat passengers, a 19-year-old man and a 20-year-old man, were seriously injured.

The names of the victims weren't immediately released. Police are still investigating the crash.
