2 Dead, 2 Injured in Garden State Parkway Crash: Police

Police are investigating a single-vehicle crash on the Garden State Parkway that left two men dead and two others injured.

Darryl Thomas, 27, of Brooklyn, was driving a 2016 Nissan Maxima in a southbound lane a little before 1 a.m. when he lost control of the car, police said.

The vehicle veered into the right lane and passed through a guardrail at milemarker 48.6 in Port Republic before flipping several times and eventually crashing into a marsh, according to police.

Thomas and passenger Zachary Pearce, 22, of Jamaica, were ejected from the car, according to police. They were pronounced dead at the scene.

Two other passengers in the car were treated at area hospitals, though they are expected to survive.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
