A Long Island woman was arrested in Levittown for driving with her 8-year-old son while intoxicated, Nassau County police said.
Christine Vitrano was driving eastbound on Hempstead Turnpike at around 8:20 p.m. when she got into a car accident with another vehicle traveling in the same direction, police said.
Authorities conducted an investigation upon arrival and determined that Vitrano was driving intoxicated. Police said her 8-year-old son was in the car at the time of the accident.
She was subsequently arrested, and her son was released to a family member at the scene, police said. There were no reported injuries.
Vitrano is charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated with a child under 16, driving while ability impaired by drugs and endangering the welfare of a child. Her arraignment will be on Saturday in Hempstead.
