Fruit Cakes Recalled in NYC Over Egg Allergens

No illnesses have been connected to the 1.5-pound fruit cakes

A Brooklyn bakery has recalled a batch of fruit cakes that may contain eggs, a potentially dangerous allergen for some people.

The state agriculture department says routine testing discovered the egg allergens, which weren't declared on the labels of the fruit cakes packaged by the Narala Bakery for sale in Brooklyn and Queens.

Officials say Thursday no illnesses have been connected to the 1.5-pound fruit cakes. They were sold in uncoded, plastic packages.

Anyone who bought one may return it to the retail store.
