Wet, Windy Weather Expected Friday

A storm system that produced heavy snow in the Midwest is bringing strong winds, rain and possibly some light flurries to the tri-state area.

Light rain began falling Thursday evening, developing into heavy rain overnight. The worst of the storm system may hit the area during Friday’s morning commute. Expect very heavy rain, strong winds and possible thunderstorms to last through the morning. Some flurries are also possible Friday afternoon.

A high wind warning is in effect for the area Friday morning. And a coastal flood advisory has been issued for Ocean, Monmouth, and Middlesex counties in New Jersey.

Anywhere from a third of an inch of rain to more than an inch and a quarter is possible. Temperatures are also likely to drop Friday and into the weekend.

The storm has already caused a large number of flights to be canceled in other parts of the country.
