Soggy Morning Commute Expected Before Rain Tapers Off Wednesday, Temps Bounce Back

After a wet, windy and raw day Tuesday, and a damp Wednesday morning commute projected, warmer and brighter weather is on the horizon for the tri-state.

Intermittent showers hit through the day Tuesday, as daytime highs capped out in the mid-50s, Storm Team 4 said. Heavier rain moved in later in the day as the evening rush got underway, according to forecasters.

Moderate to heavy rain is likely to continue overnight into Wednesday, making for a soggy morning commute as well, before showers taper off in the afternoon. A widespread half inch to 1.5 inches of rain is expected across the tri-state, with locally higher amounts possible, Storm Team 4 says.

A coastal flood advisory went into effect Tuesday afternoon for much of New York and parts of New Jersey and parts of Connecticut. See the latest severe weather alerts here.

Though the next few days might be rough, Storm Team 4 expects the latter half of the work week to be a stunner. Temperatures rebound to the mid- to upper 60s by Wednesday afternoon and are forecast to hit the high 70s by the weekend with some sun and clouds mixing in ahead of another chance for thunderstorms Sunday.
