Severe Flooding Reported in Upstate NY

Police are searching for missing residents

Police are searching for missing residents in an eastern New York town damaged by flash flooding.

Fort Plain Police Chief Robert Thomas says Friday night he's requested a team from the state's Division of Homeland Security who are specially trained in search and rescue with K9 police dogs.

Thomas didn't say how many people are missing.

He says several small buildings on two particular streets were moved from their foundations or destroyed by the water.

Many of the rivers and streams in eastern New York that flooded have started to slowly recede.
