A fisherman is being hailed as a hero today after rescuing a woman and two teenagers who were in a car that plunged off a pier in Sheepshead Bay.
Keith Gorman, 42, was working on the dock of Pier 5 in Sheepshead Bay when he heard the car crash through a gate that bordered the inlet, witnesses told the Daily News.
Witnesses say the trio got into the car on Emmons Avenue, and that the vehicle suddenly accelerated and went into the water.
Gorman was humble about the rescue.
"I had no choice but to jump in," he said. "It was very lucky. Everyone got away with their lives," he told the News.
The victims were all without serious injury, but taken to the hospital as a precaution.
The cause of the accident is under investigation.
