The prototype for the first home pregnancy test is going on the auction block in New York City.
Bonhams is offering the Predictor on June 16. The pre-sale estimate is $6,000 to $9,000.
It was designed by Margaret Crane in 1968. At the time, she was working for Organon Pharmaceuticals as a freelance graphic designer.
She came up with the kit after learning women had to wait up to two weeks to get lab results.
Bonhams says Crane resolved to create a device that would let women learn whether they were pregnant in as little as two hours.
