Fire Engulfs Cars at New Jersey Junkyard, Garden State Parkway Exit Closed: Police

A fire is burning across a recycling plant and a car junkyard in New Jersey, causing issues on the Garden State Parkway during the evening rush Friday.

State police say the fire started at the recycling plant on Double Trouble Road in Berkeley Township, Ocean County, shortly after 3 p.m.

The blaze spread next door to a junkyard, where it was engulfing dozens of cars, police said.

Mutual aid fire units are responding.

Authorities closed off exit 77 on the Garden State Parkway -- which sits adjacent to the plant -- out of safety concerns.
