A fire engulfed a playground at an elementary school in New Jersey on Sunday, authorities said.
Firefighters responded to the playground at Newbury Elementary School, in Howell Township, New Jersey, around 11:04 a.m. after receiving a report of a small mulch fire, Southard Fire Dept. No. 1 said.
When they arrived, they discovered “a large fire consuming the mulch and playground equipment,” the department said.
A photo posted by the Howell Township Police Department shows the playground consumed by flames and clouds of dark smoke.
Firefighters used foam to extinguish the blaze, the fire department said.
