Firefighters were called to the famed Waldorf-Astoria Hotel when a fire broke out in the basement of the hotel Thursday afternoon.
About 20 FDNY units and 78 fire personnel responded to the fire, believed to be related to a transformer problem.
The fire department did not evacuate the hotel at 301 Park Ave., but some guests chose to exit the building on their own, officials said.
A few people were being treated for minor injuries -- likely smoke inhalation, said officials.
