Fiat Breezes Through NYC Bike Lane

A Queens driver made use of his compact Fiat to navigate along a bike lane Tuesday morning, video of the maneuver shows.

The illegal move was caught on video by cyclist Anthony Wheeler near the corner of Jewel Avenue and Main Street in Flushing at about 7:45 a.m. Tuesday, Wheeler told NBC 4 New York.

Wheeler, who records videos of his commute daily, said the behavior is nothing new.

"I take new ones everyday and see lots of stupid and dangerous things," he said.

Obstructing a bike lane is illegal and punishable by a fine, according to New York City traffic regulations.

The traffic laws also specify that crossing a bike lane is illegal except when turning, leaving a parking space or avoiding an obstacle.
