Two Hurt in Battery Park City Ferry Accident

Two people suffered minor injuries after a water taxi lost power and bumped a Battery Park City dock on Thursday, authorities said

An official familiar with the investigation said the ferry lost power while returning from a tour of the Statue of Liberty.

One of the passengers suffered an elbow injury when the boat bumped the pier, police said.

Before reacing the pier the captain realized the boat had lost power and alerted the 40 passengers to brace for a hard landing, the official said.

The Coast Guard is investigating why the ferry lost power.
