Ferry Gets Stuck in Mud While Taking Group on Private Rockaways Tour

A ferry carrying a private group on a tour of the Rockaways ran aground Wednesday and got stuck in the mud, where the passengers had to evacuate the vessel in FDNY boats.

The ferry operator, Seastreak, said the boat was carrying about 25 people for the excursion, which was to examine the progress made in rebuilding the area around Jamaica Bay since Hurricane Sandy.

The boat was going about 2 mph when it got stuck near the Cross Bay Bridge.

No one was hurt, according to Seastreak.
