After Balmy Monday, Cold Returns

We're back to the 50s.

A warm weather front pushed across the tri-state Monday, sending temperatures soaring into the balmy 70s in the city and even the low 80s across inland New Jersey.

But say farewell to the warmth -- a front with cooler temps and showers is on the way. Tuesday will see highs only in the mid 50s, with lows in the 40s.

Occasional rain is likely Tuesday night into at least early Wednesday as well. Highs will stay in the 50s for most areas Wednesday, with a slight improvement into the 60s later in the week.

The average high for Monday is 59 degrees and the Central Park record high for the date is 84 degrees set back in 1955.
