Person of Interest Sought in Fatal Queens Punching: NYPD

Police have released a sketch of a man they say is wanted for questioning in the death of a 56-year-old man who was fatally punched in the face by a stranger in an apparently unprovoked attack last month.

Roberto Martires died June 24 at Elmhurst Hospital, where he had been hospitalized in critical condition since the assault early June 21.

Police say Martires was standing on the sidewalk on Roosevelt Avenue near 69th Street in Woodside when a man approached and hit him in the face, police say.

The attacker left the scene.

Late last month, police also released a surveillance photo (above) of a man in his mid 20s who is wanted for questioning in the attack.

Anyone with information regarding the attack is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
