Victims in Fatal NJ House Fire Identified

Authorities have identified the two people killed last weekend when a fast-moving roared through their northern New Jersey home.

Jaclyn Pruyn, 24, and Eddy Nelson Diaz, 45, died the two-alarm fire on Union Avenue that was reported around 4:40 a.m. Sunday, Paterson police said.

Firefighters tried to enter the home, but initially were forced back by the heavy flames. Pruyn was found on the first floor of the home, while Diaz was found on the second floor. The victims' pet dog also died in the fire.

The blaze also spread to a neighboring home, causing some damage and displacing at least seven people.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
