FEMA Extends Disaster Assistance Deadline in NY

The Federal Emergency Management Agency has extended the deadline for Sandy victims in New York to apply for disaster assistance.

FEMA says survivors have until April 13 to register with FEMA and return their disaster loan applications to the U.S. Small Business Administration. The previous deadline was Friday.

Aid can include temporary rental assistance, home repair for damage not covered by insurance, and grants for necessary expenses, including medical, funeral, personal property and transportation.

Individuals can register online at www.DisasterAssistance.gov or they can call the FEMA helpline at 1-800-621-3362.
