Police Arrest Boyfriend in Englewood, N.J. Killings of Woman, Child

Police have arrested a man in connection with the deaths of a mother and child in a home in Englewood, N.J.

Tammy Gaddy, 40, and her 3-year-old daughter, Natasia Gaddy, were found in a home on West Palisade Avenue Tuesday, prosecutors said.

Officials said Wednesday that the mother was stabbed to death by her boyfriend of three years during an argument. Prosecutors believe the little girl witnessed the stabbing and that he smothered her with a plastic bag before fleeing the home.

The toddler had no stab wounds, prosecutors said.

Authorities said the mother and daughter were killed Monday but their bodies weren't discovered until police went to check on them Tuesday.

The boyfriend, who works as a school custodian at Leonia Middle School, is charged with two counts of first-degree murder and is being held on $2 million bail.
