Cameron Dabaghi, 21-year-old Yale University junior, plunged to his death in an apparent suicide jump off the Empire State Building Tuesday.
The 21-year-old from Austin, Texas, was dead when rescue workers arrived shortly before 6:30 p.m. He had jumped from the 86th floor of the 102-story skyscraper, a floor with an observation deck open to the public.
According to the Yale Daily News, Dabaghi was majoring in East Asian Studies, and has sister who also attends Yale University.
The university said in a statement that it is making counselors available and extending support to the student's family and friends.
