Suspect Named in Rape, Kidnapping of 82-Year-Old Brooklyn Woman: NYPD

An 18-year-old man has been identified as the suspect in the robbery, kidnapping and rape of an 82-year-old woman inside her home in Brooklyn, the NYPD says.

Asa Robert is wanted in the violent episode inside the elderly woman's home in Coney Island early on Monday, authorities say.

Police allege that the suspect sneaked into the woman's home while she was sweeping outside early that morning and waited for her to come back inside. When she did, he tried to rob her at knifepoint.

When the woman said she didn't have any money, the suspect allegedly held her hostage for more than two hours before raping her. 

After the attack, police say the suspect allegeldy stole an umbrella and bag full of clothes before leaving. 

The woman was taken to Kings County Hospital after the attack. It’s not clear how badly she was injured.
