An elderly mother and her 39-year-old daughter were found tied up inside an East Village apartment Friday evening, one of them dead, law enforcement source say.

Police say officers responded to a 911 call for two women assaulted inside the Lillian Wald Houses at 711 FDR Drive at about 5:30 p.m. and inside found an 82-year-old woman bound with tape by her wrist and ankles. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Her daughter, who was also bound inside the apartment,  was able to free herself and call police, sources said. She was taken to Bellevue Hospital for her injuries.

The deceased woman has been identified as Ella-Nae Biaz.

Neighbors were shocked.

"She was a sweet old lady, no problems. Always says hi to everybody," said a man who declined to give his name.

Law enforcement sources say Biaz's grandson has been taken into custody for questioning. They're continuing to investigate.
