Elderly Man Struck, Killed in Queens

An elderly man was struck and killed by a car in Queens Wednesday, police said.

John Eberling, 76, of Richmond Hill, was crossing Jamaica Avenue at 80th Street in Woodhaven at about 4:30 p.m. when he was struck by a maroon Nissan Pathfinder heading east on Jamaica Avenue, police said. 

Eberling was taken to Jamaica Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The driver of the vehicle was arrested at the scene, police said. Charges are pending.
