"I looked and saw all my blood on the rug," Vivian Squires said. "I got another spirit and I said, 'I can't die yet.'"

Squires, still weak and unable to walk on her own, recalled the horrifying ordeal that took place in her Jamaica Queens home early Sunday morning.

"This person swung around and jumped on top of me, and took the pillow over my head and took a knife and slashed my throat," she said.

After fighting off her attacker, Squires earned the nickname The Gritty Granny. She underwent surgery at Mary Immaculate Hospital in Queens, part of which left 35 staples in her back.

Squires' attacker is still on the loose with her car, as well as some of her jewelry and cash. Doctors said she's lucky to be alive, and family members said they believe the attacker will get what he deserves.
