Police are searching for a burglar who was caught on surveillance camera as he ransacked an East Village apartment.

The man broke into an apartment at 516 E. 11 St. at about 3:30 p.m. Monday, police said. The resident returned to his apartment to find personal items missing and was able to turn over survillance footage to police.

The burglar is described as having short hair, glasses, a purple t-shirt, plaid shorts, white sneakers and a multi-colored knapsack.
