Teenager Pulled from East River Dies

Divers from the New York police and fire departments pulled a 15-year-old from the river Saturday night

Authorities say a teenager who was pulled from the East River has died.

Divers from the New York police and fire departments pulled a 15-year-old boy from the river at 105th Street on Saturday night. The teen was taken to Metropolitan Hospital, where he died.

The boys were apparently walking on a railing when one of them slipped and splashed into the river.

Police say a friend of the teen called 911 and said the boy fell into the river before 8:30 p.m.

The teen was underwater for at least 20 minutes before divers found his body, authorities said.
