A man jumped in the East River Monday to help two swimmers who had jumped in the water during a game of "Dare" and were struggling to stay afloat, police say.

The man was walking on 47th Road in Long Island City at about 7:30 p.m. when he noticed two men struggling in the water, police say.

The man jumped in the water to help the swimmers, and police helped pull all three from the water.

The passerby refused medical treatment, and the two swimmers were both taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
