Authorities say they've recovered a body from the East River near where a man went missing while swimming with friends last Thursday.
The body was found in the waters off Brooklyn at about 8 p.m. Monday. An autopsy will be conducted Tuesday morning, the FDNY said.
Last week, 21-year-old Steven Middleton was with three friends celebrating a birthday when they decided to go into the river, according to relatives.
Police say Middleton climbed down a ladder from a pier at North First Street, about a half mile north of the Brooklyn side of the Williamsburg Bridge, and was immediately caught in the fast-moving current.
